Design team answers questions about State High project

by: Stef Davis

The bulk of Monday night's State College Area School Board meeting dedicated to discussing the high school upgrade project. The design team sitting down with board members to go over even the slightest details.

Julie Miller, State Collage Area School District, says, Tonight is a more in-depth discussion, a comparison, advantages, disadvantages between the two concepts so the board can have the most information when they move forward into the evaluation matrix."

Only two concepts remain in the high school project, B and D. B--renovating and adding to the North and South building and constructing a bridge to connect them. D--moving all core classes to the South building and keeping the North building as an auxiliary. Much of the discussion surrounding the single most important factor in both concepts--school safety.

Miller adds, Safety and security has risen to the top by all community members, by the board themselves, in the discussions regardless of whatever concept it is."

Monday's discussion also serving as a sort of warm-up for Tuesday night's community forum on the high school project. A chance for those unable to attend board meetings to have their voice heard.

Miller says, The majority of it will mirror the discussion tonight as far as the architect standpoint, but we'll be setting aside time for questions and answers for community members who have specific questions."
