Overturned tractor-trailer backs up traffic on I-80

Miles of backups reported in Clearfield area

By Marc Stempka

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- An overturned tractor-trailer caused significant backups on a busy interstate in Clearfield County Friday.

PennDOT officials said the right lane of Interstate 80 eastbound was closed between mile markers 120 and 121 due to the crash.

Clearfield County emergency dispatch said the tractor-trailer overturned around 10:15 a.m. in Lawrence Township. No injuries were reported.

As of 11:30 a.m., PennDOT said significant delays were being reported in the stretch of road before the accident scene that is just past exit 120 (Clearfield/Shawville).

Officials said the scene should be cleared by 5 p.m.

Motorists were advised they can monitor traffic conditions on PennDOTs highway advisory radio system at 1640 AM.
