Trooper shot in Jefferson County incident

BROCKWAY, Pa. Officials confirmed to 6 News a state trooper was shot and wounded in an incident in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.

A state police spokesperson in Harrisburg confirmed one state trooper was shot in what was described as an "ongoing situation" on Cemetery Hill Road, just outside of Brockway.

Few details were being released by officials, but the trooper was flown to UPMC Altoona Hospital and was reportedly awake and conscious.

State police officials confirmed troopers were at a home on Cemetery Hill Road to serve a warrant on an indivdiual and while that warrant was being served, a trooper was shot.

Police have identified the trooper, but are not releasing his name.

The home where the individual who is believed to have shot the trooper has been surrounded by law enforcement and a perimeter had been established, officials said.

Jefferson County emergency management confirmed Brockway area schools were on lockdown.

Brockway school officials said both district schools would remain in lockdown until an all clear was given by state police.

6 News had crews on scene in the Brockway area and will continue to update this story as information become available.
