Stands open for State College high game

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Game on at Memorial Field in State College.

It was down to the wire Friday for State College Area School officials.  Construction crews worked through the day to get more seats into the football stadium in time for the seasons home opener against Central Mountain.

A sinkhole opened up under the bleachers nearly a year ago.

For safety reasons, wooden staircases have been built in the construction area.  The district said the area is safe for fans.

"The temp staircases that you see on field are not something there permanently," said district spokesperson Julie Miller.

Frasier Street is still closed.  Extra school staff will be on hand to help fans navigate their way into the stadium.
