RUSH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police were continuing their investigation Friday into a crash that seriously injured a teenager and two others in Centre County.

State police at Philipsburg said a 16-year-old girl crashed the car she was driving into a tree along Route 322 in Rush Township, just outside Philipsburg, at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the teenager and two other women, none of whom were identified, were trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Police said the girl was driving west on Route 322 when she apparently veered off the shoulder, overcorrected her steering, slid across two lanes of traffic and crashed into the tree.

The driver and one passenger were taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Altoona for treatment. The third woman was taken to UPMC Altoona by ambulance.

An accident reconstruction team was brought in to examine the crash scene and their investigation was ongoing, police said.
