Center for abused children opens in Centre County

By: WJAC Web Staff

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Child Advocacy Center is now open for business.

The idea was born days after Sanduskys arrest in November 2011.

Centre County officials decided there was a need for a safe place where victims of abuse or neglect could go.

Law enforcement, child protective services and medical examiners were all needed in order to make this project work.

The primary focus of the center is the well-being of a child, to make them feel safe so the child can share their story and being the process of healing.

The Mount Nittany Health Childrens Advocacy Center is similar to centers already operating in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
