Jackie Robinson film shown in honor of Black History month
By: Lauren Hensley
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In honor of Black History month, dozens gathered at the Penn State All-Sports Museum for a special viewing of the film "42," the Jackie Robinson story.
The movie focuses on Robinson's journey to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color barrier. Afterward a panel discussion with experts in the field took place.
"We are so far beyond we think 2014, we are way beyond 1947 and in a lot of ways we are not with the prejudice that continues and the continuing problems with race questions on immigration that reflect race problems I think we learn a lot from that history to make a better future," Dr. Bob Allen, a professor and sports historian, said.
The event was free and open to the public.
