BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- A Centre County man has been found guilty for is role in a snake theft that happened in the Centre region nearly a year ago.
The Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said Tyler Lykens, 26, was found guilty Friday in a non-jury trial for helping drive the getaway car in the reptile heist.
Lykens told investigators he thought he was helping in a drug deal the night of May 14 when the thefts occurred.
Lykens and two co-defendants, Nathan Flick and Nicholas Snedden, drove to Christopher Robinsons home in the Julian area and took the snakes, valued at approximately $30,000, investigators said.
Investigators said Flick took 13 ball python morphs and then tried to sell some of the snakes at an event in Berks County, where he was caught.
