State College businesses cashing in on NCAA Women’s Tournament

By: Lauren Hensley

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-- The NCAA Tournament is hitting Happy Valley.  Penn Staters are filled with pride as the Lady Lions are getting ready to take on Wichita State Sunday.  The Bryce Jordan center is hosting three rounds and it's bringing in not just Penn State fans, but sports fans from all over. These extra visitors could mean big business for State College.

We are here for the NCAA women's tournament. University of Dayton is ranked sixth so we are playing tomorrow versus Florida, and we are all really excited about it and to be able to represent UD, Emma Eisert-Wlodarczyk, a cheerleader from the University of Dayton, said.

In a sea of blue, white and Nittany pride, the three Dayton cheerleaders are proudly representing their school. The cheerleading squad flew into State College Friday night and are taking in some of the sights while spending a little cash.

We've been walking around campus kind of looking at all the different shops.  We went to the Penn State book store and later today we are going to go to our team's practice, Dayton cheerleader Sara Minge said.

The cheerleaders each purchased some Penn State gear to bring back a little bit of the Happy Valley to Dayton.

Just being able to walk around and see all of the Penn State students. It has been fun and seeing everyone getting ready for the tournament, Dayton cheerleader  Mackenzie Tigrett said.
