Pens make deadline move, acquire forward for draft picks

By: WJAC Web Staff

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Wednesday the team acquired forward Marcel Goc from the Florida Panthers for a pair of draft picks in the coming seasons.

Goc, 30, has 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 62 games this season for the Panthers, the Penguins said. Hes ranked first with Florida with 103 hits and 41 blocked shots this season, plus has won 576 faceoffs this season, ranking 13th in the NHL.

The 6-foot-1, 197 pound Goc is originally from Germany and has previously been a member of the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators.

With Goc's acquisition, the Pens look to be strengthening the bottom lines, with a probable spot for him being the third line.

Pittsburgh traded a 2014 fifth-round draft pick and a 2015 third-round draft pick to the Panthers for Goc, the Penguins said.
