By: WJAC Web Staff

SCALP LEVEL, Pa. -- One person has been shot and emergency crews have surrounded a home in a southern Cambria County community in what has now become a standoff with police.

Authorities said a woman was shot while running from a home in the 300 block of Main Street in Scalp Level, Cambria County, after police tried to serve a warrant at a home. Police said she was shot by a man who was inside the home.

The woman was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment, but her name and condition were not immediately known.

Police said an officer went to serve the warrant at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, but details about the nature of the warrant were not available.

Officials said the victim was possibly a friend of the man inside the home. There was no information immediately available about that man.

Just after 6 p.m., police fired what appeared to be a flash-bang device into the home.

Several emergency crews, including fire, EMS and the Cambria County Special Emergency Response Team were called to the scene.

The police activity is situated in the Scalp Level area, which is just between Windber, Somerset County and Richland Township, Cambria County.
