Johnstown man shoots himself after nearly 18 hours of negotiations with police

JOHNSTOWN, Pa.

A standoff in Johnstown ended Sunday morning after nearly 18 hours of negotiations.

It started Saturday around 1 p.m. and did not end until nearly 8 a.m. Sunday.

Negotiators from Cambria County Emergency Response Team, Johnstown Police and state police were on
scene.

Authorities said they attempted a peaceful resolution with the man inside for hours. He was holed up inside his Forest Avenue house with a gun.

Police said he shot himself Sunday morning just before 8 a.m., but is expected to recover. Police said there is no threat to the public.
