"Downtown Shutdown" brings music to streets of Ebensburg; Homecoming events planned
Two days of events planned throughout borough

EBENSBURG, Pa. -- Several blocks through the downtown area of Ebensburg, Cambria County, will be shut down to vehicle traffic tonight as the town kicks off its annual homecoming festivities with live music in the streets.
The Ebensburg Downtown Shutdown features free, live music from bands in a one-block radius of the towns main intersection at Center and High Streets.
There will be two free concerts taking place during the event that runs from 7 to 11 p.m.
In addition to the concerts, downtown Ebensburg businesses will be holding special sales and promotions during the event, Ebensburg Community Development Director Danea Koss said.
Ohio-based Santana tribute band, Evil Ways, will perform at the intersection of Center and High Streets and local band, Juke Left, a modern/alternative rock band, will perform at Center and Sample Streets, Koss said.
Several downtown restaurants will be offering outside seating as well as food and beverage sales, Koss said. Those attending the event are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Other Ebensburg Homecoming events planned for the weekend include a community yard sale, farmers market, athletic events and fireworks.
The Ebensburg community yard sale will take place throughout the borough beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The farmers market will be held at the Penn Eben Park at the corner of West High and Julian Streets from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
The Homecoming 5K race will start at 9 a.m. at the Young Peoples Community Center on South Julian Street and the Homecoming Duathalon will start at 10 a.m. from the same location.
A book sale and flea market will take place Saturday at the Ebensburg Library on West Highland Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Several childrens events will take place throughout Saturday at Lake Rowena, along with free tennis at the Ebensburg Tennis Center on Lakeview Road, adjacent to Lake Rowena.
Saturdays events will conclude with the band Totem performing at Lake Rowena from 8 to 11 p.m. and fireworks will be set off at dusk at the lake.
