Local outdoor business benefit from all four seasons

From rough rapids to calm water, people are flocking to Coal Tubin for one reason: the adventure.

Coal Tubin offers tubing, white water rafting, and inflatable kayaking trips, but mother nature is key in how this business operates.

When we have good weather obviously on the weekends, we will get 300 tubers through the doors, if it is raining, we might get 10, General Manager Tyler Maluchnik said.

But rain this summer is no problem for rafters; the business is open all year around.

We are trying to get more into Spring and Fall time frame because summer around here is a hit or miss and this year it has been a bad summer for us, Maluchnik said.

Tubing is offered just in the summer, but whitewater rafting and kayaking is offered year around, allowing rafters to cruise the river in the cold temperatures. They give cold gear to the rafters to help them fight the frigid temperatures.

Cold Tubin also added guided overnight hiking trips. They are led by military men and offer tents, a bonfire, and food on a secluded campground.
