Clerk pepper sprayed during robbery

BELLEFONTE, Pa., -- Police said a brazen robber pepper sprayed a convenience store clerk in Centre Co. and took the whole cash register.

The attack was captured on surveillance cameras, and police said they need help identifying the man who attacked the clerk.

Police said it happened around 10:30 Monday night at the Centre Mart in Bellefonte.  

The clerk told 6 News he saw this man come in around 5 oclock earlier in the day and asked for a job application.  He said the man then he came back a few hours later and eventually asked to use the phone.

"That time he sprayed me with pepper spray, the clerk said.  I couldn't see anything."

People using a laundry mat next door called 9-1-1.

Police said they located a pellet gun outside the store, as well as parts of the cash register.

"This used to be a good town but it doesn't seem like a good town anymore," the clerk said.

Police said they were able to collect finger prints and other evidence.
