Police: Domestic situation lead to fatal Cambria County stabbing

Stabbing suspect not apprehended

By: Marc Stempka

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Officials from several Cambria County agencies released new details Tuesday afternoon about a fatal stabbing that occurred earlier in the morning in Johnstowns Moxham section.

Johnstown police said Demetrius Gibson, of Tire Hill, Somerset County, was wanted for allegedly stabbing Elizabeth Miller, 21, of Tire Hill, inside a bay at the Dollar Car Wash on Bridge Street just before 5 a.m.

Officials said the stabbing appeared to be a domestic incident and that Gibson and Miller had agreed to meet at that location to exchange a cellphone.

Police said after Gibson stabbed Miller, he drove away from the scene, later crashing his vehicle into a yard of a Forest Avenue home in Moxham. Gibson fled that scene and remained on the run as of 2:30 p.m.

Charges against Gibson were pending at a Johnstown magistrates office and officials were continuing their search for him, police said.

6 News reporter Maria Miller attended a press conference with officials and will have more on the stabbing on 6 News at 5 and 6.
