Trooper shot in Jefferson County incident

BROCKWAY, Pa. Officials confirmed to 6 News a state trooper was shot and wounded while trying to serve a warrant in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.

A state police spokesperson in Harrisburg confirmed it happened along Cemetery Hill Road, just outside of Brockway.

The trooper, whose name is not being released, was flown to UPMC Altoona Hospital and was reportedly awake and conscious.

The home where the individual who is believed to have shot the trooper has been surrounded by law enforcement and a perimeter had been established, officials said.

Jefferson County emergency management confirmed Brockway area schools were on lockdown, but that lockdown has been lifted.

6 News had crews on scene in the Brockway area and will continue to update this story as information become available.
