UPDATED: Trooper in critical condition after Jefferson County shooting

by Melanie Gillespie

BROCKWAY, Pa. A Pennsylvania state police trooper was shot and critically wounded while trying to serve a warrant Thursday afternoon, investigators said.

It happened along Cemetery Hill Road, just outside of Brockway.

"We were sitting there watching TV when all of a sudden we heard gunfire," said Judi Billock, who lives nearby.

Police said the suspect remained barricaded inside the home at press time.

"We do have the scene contained, and there is no danger to anyone else in the neighborhood," said George Bivens, of the state police.

Investigators said they planned on staying put throughout the night.

Police are not yet releasing the name of the suspect or victim.
