Arrest made in high school bomb threat

Police: No real danger posed in threat

By: Marc Stempka

EBENSBURG, Pa. Officials at one Cambria County school district said a student was responsible for leaving a bomb threat in a building bathroom on Wednesday.

Cambria Township police said a male student was arrested Thursday for writing the threat in a boys bathroom at Central Cambria High School.

Authorities were able to review surveillance video from near the entrance of the bathroom to help identify the student responsible, officials said.

Officials said the surveillance video was very helpful in narrowing down the search for the person responsible, whom they say will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

The idle threat was discovered Wednesday afternoon and a bomb sniffing K-9 was brought in following normal student dismissal to do a sweep of the school. The dog found nothing.

Police said there wasnt really a true danger in this incident.

The district notified parents and guardians of the situation and the subsequent apprehension using their parental notification system.

District schools were open as normal Thursday.
