Police arrest man for making threats to Blair Co. courthouse, water sources

Man facing several felony charges

By: Marc Stempka

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa.-- Police have filed charges against a Blair County man in connection to a bomb threat at the Blair County courthouse and a water contamination threat at area reservoirs.

Blair County officials said Tuesday that Adam Hardin, 23, was facing charges after he made a bomb threat directed at the Blair County Courthouse and that a toxin had been placed in the Muleshoe and Plane Nine reservoirs.

Online court records showed felony counts against Hardin for making bomb threats, terroristic threats and other charges.

Police said Hardin emailed two bomb threats to WTAJ-TV on Oct. 23. That threat caused a two-block evacuation around the area of the courthouse for several hours that night.

A bomb-sniffing dog was brought in to search the building and didnt find a bomb, but did have a hit on a substance that prompted officials to take further measures to ensure the safety of the courthouse.

Two days later, police said Hardin emailed a threat to Altoona Mirror stating that a toxin was placed in the water supply at the two reservoirs and also in the Altoona Water Authority system. That prompted a nearly 48-hour boil water notice to residents in several communities.

Hollidaysburg police scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. 6 News reporter Maria Miller is at the press conference and working to learn additional details about the charges for 6 News beginning at 5.
