Local charity in need of help itself

By: Deven Clarke
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa.--

The Salvation Army in Clearfield County began their annual Red Kettle drive the day after Thanksgiving. The goal is to raise $40,000 by Christmas Eve.

Last year, the nonprofit Christian organization exceeded that goal by but Thanksgiving fell about a week earlier compared to this year, giving the Salvation Army more time to meet the goal.

So far the red kettles placed throughout Clearfield County have yielded about $12,000. Members of the Salvation Army hope that more than $30,000 can be raised within the next three weeks.
