Boil-water alert in effect for southern Cameron County

By: WJAC Web Staff

DRIFTWOOD, Pa. -- A boil-water notice has been in effect for southern Cameron County since Monday.

Driftwood Water Company left a statement saying they are working diligently to remedy the situation.

According to the water authority the Borough of Driftwood may be at risk from microbial contamination.

On Monday, Jan. 12, they experienced a loss of positive water pressure due to a major water leak.

The positive water pressure is a signal of the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through backflow by back pressure.

As a result an increase in water contamination could contain disease-causing organisms.

The water authority is advising that you boil water first before using it, and use bottled or boiled water until the notification has been lifted.
