Russian accused of having bomb in Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. Police in Altoona said Friday night they arrested a 18-year-old Russian citizen who had bomb making material he said he bought off the internet.

Police said in a release they were investigating a reported marijuana growing operation at an apartment on North 9th Avenue in the city.  Thats when they said they found Vladislav Miftakhov with a suspected bomb and other explosive materials inside a suitcase.  

The bomb was taken apart by a State Police bomb squad the release said.

Police said appropriate federal agencies were notified and are working with the Altoona police.  

Miftakhov is charged with possessing of a weapon of mass destruction, risking a catastrophe as well as charges related to marijuana possession and was taken to the Blair County prison in lieu of $500,000 police said.

The release did not specify what Miftakhovs intentions were.
