Temporary Tamiflu shortage resolved

By: Jackalyn Kovac

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The makers of the antiviral drug Tamiflu say the temporary shortage has been resolved.

Genetech release information Thursday stating the company has sufficient supply of the liquid and capsule form of the drug.

Early January, pharmacies reported a shortage of the liquid form, Tamiflu Oral Suspension.

Tamiflu OS is typically prescribed to children under the age of 13, and those who have difficulty swallowing.

"As the manufacturer of Tamiflu, we work with a network of distributors to supply retail pharmacies nationwide. We have limited information regarding Tamiflu supply in specific local areas.  Given the widespread flu activity in 35 states nationally, there may be some instances where a local pharmacy may not have the liquid formulation of Tamiflu in stock," said Genetech in a release.
