'Fit for Service' day held in Johnstown gym

By: Jackalyn Kovac

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. day, community organizers held a 'Fit for Service' Day in downtown Johnstown.

Local groups like Goodwill's Youth Mentoring program teamed up with the co-owners of Fitness Weights and Aerobics, Oscar Cashaw and Annette Comiskey to teach people about healthy habits.

Those going to the event worked out together and learned about mentoring programs.

"Its such an important thing for adults in our community to volunteer their time because it really does impact the young people we are working with," said Goodwill President and CEO Phyllis Bandstra.

"We have a lot of families that came out and brought their youth, and exposed them to exercising and nutritional speaking," said Cashaw.
