Train, utility vehicle collide in Clearfield Co.

SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- One person was injured after a train collided with a utility vehicle in Clearfield County.

Sandy Township police said a man driving a UTV side-by-side collided with a Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad locomotive at about 12 p.m. Wednesday.

The crash happened in the area of a railroad crossing on Kennedy Lane, just off of Route 219, police said.

Police said the driver of the UTV was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was taken by medical helicopter for treatment.

The extent of the man's injuries was not known and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
