Tractor-trailer crashes over hillside in Cambria Co.

By: WJAC Web Staff

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- For the second time in nearly 24 hours, emergency crews in one Cambria County community responded to a truck crash along the same stretch of highway.

Officials said a tractor-trailer went off of Route 22 while traveling west in Jackson Township just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The truck landed upside down after rolling down a small hill near the Jackson Township Community Rod & Gun Club.

Officials said the truck driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved. Police were investigating the cause of the crash.

Emergency crews had traffic restricted in that area of Route 22, known as Chickaree Mountain, while crews worked to clean up the scene.

Just about 24 hours prior, a tractor-trailer also traveling west on Route 22 crashed at the bottom of Chickaree Mountain. That truck went through the median and jackknifed in the eastbound lanes. No injuries were reported in that crash.
