Man busts through cemetery with car and breaks numerous tombstones

DUBOIS, Pa. -- Police said the search continues for the person who drove through a cemetery in DuBois.

Tuesday 6 News looked at the destruction that happened last Thursday.

A silver four door Ford Taurus reportedly ended up in the cemetery of the Salem United Methodist Church in DuBois.

A witness told the cemetery caretaker they saw a young man drive the car into the cemetery and back out, hitting numerous tombstones. Some of the stones were more than 100 years old.

We have to go back and do some looking at who they would be but as I told the officer there are flowers placed on this lower part of the cemetery on some of these tombstones, I know for a fact, so there are loved ones still here that come to the cemetery all the time, said cemetery caretaker Barbara Hoover.

Hoover said so far she found at least three broken tombstones but expects to find much more damage when the snow melts.

You are asked to call police if you have any information.
