Several cats die in Cambria Co. house fire

By: WJAC Web Staff

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Fire crews in Cambria County battled a house fire, but they were unable save several cats that were inside the home.

Officials said the fire started just before 8 a.m. Thursday in a home at Rear 266 Cypress Ave. in the Moxham section of Johnstown.

The home was engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene, officials said. Firefighters worked to keep the flames from spreading to two nearby homes.

No one was in the home at the time the blaze started, but several cats did not survive. The number of cats that died was not known.

Buses were brought in to help keep firefighters warm while battling the fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
