Popular Johnstown restaurant to expand to historically failing location

Several businesses have moved in and out of the space over the last few years

By Jackalyn Kovac

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --- The restaurant space at the Johnstown-Cambria County Airport has had many restaurant businesses come and go over the years. The last restaurant, Cal and Dot's Rock & Country Bar & Grill, lasted four months in the space.

At the airport, signs on Cal and Dot's doors say it's closed for remodeling, however the space will re-open as an entirely new business.

Press Bistro will expand its downtown business by opening a new location at the airport. Press opened up on Franklin Street in downtown Johnstown 8 months ago.

Owner Jeremy Shearer told 6 News the recent success at the downtown location led to the idea of expanding. Shearer says he isn't afraid of the space' past.

"A lot of people have noticed in the past that it is an out-of-the-way location and that makes it a challenge for a business professional to get away on a short lunch break and drive all the way out there," said Shearer. "We hope to find the audience that will drive up there and will enjoy the new Press atmosphere that we're going to bring to the airport."

Former Cal and Dot's employees will be able to keep their jobs and transition into Press employees. The new location is slated to open Jan. 14.
