JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Police in Cambria County are investigating after two puppies were found dead inside a home, officials said.

Johnstown Police Chief Craig Foust said two puppies were found dead Wednesday morning by animal control officers in a home at Rear 382 Beatrice Ave. in the city's West End section.

Foust said the home was found in "deplorable condition" and it wasn't clear if the animals died due to malnutrition or if they possibly froze to death.

The house was very cold, Foust said.

No charges have been filed in the case, but police said they are searching for the home owners. The home has been condemned by city code officials.
