Popular Johnstown DJ fired because of ex-husband's actions

By: Maria Miller

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- A popular radio host in Johnstown was fired from her job, she said, not because of her performance but because of the actions of her ex-husband.

6 News has done several stories recently about George Lucas Lane and his alleged threats against Forever Broadcasting and his wife. On Tuesday, that woman talked with 6 News just hours after being fired.

Nancy Lane said the past several years, especially the last seven months of her life, have been a mess because of her ex-husband and now he's the reason her last bit of normal has been taken away.

"Not only has my personal life been greatly affected and influenced, terror, fear, all of that, but I've worked very hard as a person in the public eye to maintain a certain reputation and now that's been stripped from me as well," said Lane.

Lane is best known as Daisy or Lexi. She was a popular radio host on two of Forever Broadcasting's stations, WFGI-FM, Froggy 95, and WRKW-FM, Rocky 99, in Johnstown until she was fired Tuesday.

Lane said she was given a letter from management explaining the decision but said nowhere in the letter does it list any part of her job performance as the reason for her termination.

"Regrettably recent events involving your former husband has caused severe disruption to our business and has made this decision necessary," Lane said, reading from her termination statement. "I guess what bothers me the most is I've overcome great obstacles and I've done my job."

Her former husband, George Lane, has been in several news headlines in recent months for threatening Nancy, her family and her co-workers. Police said he even hired someone to slash the tires on several company cars last July. He's currently in jail for impersonating police.

"It's defeating to me that my job now has been let go because of violent acts of a person who is clearly of not right mind and not right demeanor," said Lane. "Now another facet of my life is affected by this."

Lane said it's been a horrible seven-month journey the company has supported her through. Now that same company, at the corporate level, has cut ties because of her ex.

"We've been through all of this. We've overcome through all of this," said Lane. "We've worked as a team, we've functioned as a team and now I feel like when I need them most, they let me...the corporate offices let me go."

Lane wanted to make sure her listeners know how appreciative she is of their loyalty for the past four years. She said she's not sure what's next for her, but said her main priority right now is focusing on her children.

6 News reached out to Forever Broadcasting but officials there had no comment, saying it's a personnel issue.
