Vehicle cleanup continues following chain-reaction crash in Clearfield Co.

By: WJAC Web Staff

CLEARFIELD, Pa. -- Crews are continuing to work to cleanup vehicles and repair damage after a 50 vehicle chain-reaction crash in Clearfield County, and it will be work that will require traffic restrictions for up to a week.

PennDOT officials in Clearfield are advising motorists that daylight lane restrictions in the left passing lane of Interstate 80 westbound will be in place in the area of mile-markers 124 and 123 during daylight hours through next week.

Fifty vehicles, many of them tractor-trailers, collided about 6 a.m. Wednesday in that area of Bradford Township due to icy road conditions.

At least 16 people were injured in the crash, with most suffering moderate to minor injuries.

The right travel lane will remain open throughout the work, PennDOT said. No restrictions are planned for the weekend.
