House fire in Cambria Co. tricky to get to after large snowfall

By: WJAC Web Staff

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Problems for Cambria County firefighters arose while trying to get to a structure fire in the 700 block of Fulmer Road in Richland Township Saturday.

Heavy snow blanketed the driveway and a plow had to clear a path for crews to get up to the house, said fire officials.

Fire crews said the fire started after the homeowner overfilled a kerosene heater he was using to heat the home.

"The gentleman had issues getting fuel oil to the home because of the driveway conditions," said Richland Township Fire Department Chief Bob Hefflefinger.

Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to a garage but the house was a total loss.
