PORTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Two men were struck and killed while walking along an interstate in Clinton County, state police said.

State police at Lamar said the men, whose names were not released, were walking on Interstate 80 westbound near the Lamar exit in Porter Township about 3 a.m. Thursday when they were struck by a tractor-trailer.

Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna pronounced both men dead at the scene, police said.

One man was a 29-year-old from Baltimore, and the other was not known, police said.  The truck driver, Carlos Freitas-Diaz, 41, of Arlington, N.J., was not injured.

Police said the driver was traveling between 60 and 65 mph at the time of the crash.

It was not clear what the men were doing on the highway. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
