Man in jail after stealing objects for drug addiction

By: WJAC Web Staff

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Police said a man who went to Altoona seeking drug treatment is charged with breaking into dozens of cars in the area.

Police said Richard Boggs stole money, jewelry and gift cards during a three month period and investigators said he did it to support a heroin habit.

I got a really good look at what addiction life is like, said Altoona Police Department Detective Troy Wright. The individual felt sorrow and is trying to make reprimand for his action. He was just supporting a habit he could not control.

Boggs faces possession of instrument of crime with intent, loitering and prowling at night, and other charges.

Police said Boggs is in jail after he was unable to post bail.
