Schools deciding when to add snow make up days

By: WJAC Web Staff

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Several school districts in Centre County are trying to decide how to incorporate snow days into their future calendars and have asked parents for additional advice.

One option that parents voted down for was busing kids into school straight from the Grange Fair Grounds with a 60-40 vote.

The most popular option with parents was to have the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which is the second day of deer season, be a makeup snow day.

But officials did not seem to agree with the parents vote.

Superintendent Brain Griffiths said, We dont have a lot of snow days that early so doesnt really help us make day generally.

Bob Musser voted against both starting early and using a hunting day.

I think a better 50 to 75 percent of boys wont be there anyway, Musser said.

School officials said they will use the information from the parents to help them when planning the 2014-2015 school year.
