STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- All of the Centre County police departments are now online with the new 911 system.

According to officials the new system went through early testing that went well.

Saturday could be a busy day for police and the 911 personnel.

Director Dan Tancibok said theyre ready, and since Saturday is the State Pattys Day event in State College, that would be the first big test.

Yeah tomorrow will be a good test with the improved ability to talk to one another, he said.

The 911 center has been in the making for several years, costing more than $15 million.

Transferring the countys fire departments and emergency responders is the next progression expected to be completed this spring.

Penn State is still part of the system and their communications center is (a) back up operation.
