Bystanders chase, tackle man after bank robbery, surveillance video shows foot pursuit

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. A man police said robbed a Johnstown bank Tuesday morning was chased down and tackled by two men who were nearby.

Johnstown police said just before noon, Tyler Reed went into the USSCO Federal Credit Union on Central Avenue and demanded money.  They said, as Reed left the bank, a customer inside followed him outside.

Once outside, the customer signaled another man in the parking lot and the two began to chase Reed.

"When he left the bank, the customer inside the bank knew something had gone on, said police detective Thomas Owens.  He came out and observed individual in the parking lot changing clothes and he began to follow him."

A surveillance camera at the Toss and Wash on Ohio Street captured what happened next.  The video shows the two men chase Reed up the street where hes tackled just outside the view of the camera.

"From what I was told, he was being held down when patrol officers arrived there," Owens said.

Police said no one was hurt.  They said Reed will be charged with robbery theft and other related charges.
