Students get a chance at 'Shark Tank' like presentation

By: WJAC Web Staff

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Students at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown presented ideas and products to a panel of judges Tuesday night.

The purpose of the presentation was to mimic the television show "Shark Tank" and present their commercial-like products and services and hopefully receive funding to pursue their product or service.

Some of the ideas that were pitched included a point protection film installation company called Instant Installs. Along with an ice cream and gourmet treat delivery service called Bag-It that had ice cream and gourmet treats.

President and CEO of Problem Solutions Michael Hruska was in attendance of the event and discussed what he was looking for.

"For someone who's first, excited about what they're doing, second I'm looking for something that's been though through many time someone comes up with an idea but it's how you evolve that idea through time that's really important."

This program is to be offered each semester by assistant marketing professor Skip Glenn.

Another event is to be held Thursday.
