Former Curve help Pirates in Playoffs

PITTSBURGH -- When Neal Huntington took over as Pirates General Manager in 2007, he inherited a farm system left barren by the previous regime. One of the themes of the Pirates success in 2013 stems from an influx of home grown talent, making its way through the system and onto the current roster.

Seventeen players on the Pirates current 40-man roster came up through Pittsburgh's minor league system and spent time with the Altoona Curve. Matt Maisel caught up with a few of them during the Pirates' celebration in beating the Cincinnati Reds 6-2 to win the Wild Card playoff game.
