Penn State QB Ferguson Will Transfer

Penn State quarterback Tyler Ferguson has been granted his release from the Nittany Lion football team, a team spokesman confirmed to 6 Sports on Wednesday.

Ferguson enrolled at Penn State in January from junior college in California. He overtook Steven Bench during spring practice as the team's No. 1 QB going into training camp in August.

Both Ferguson and true freshman Christian Hackenberg saw playing time in Penn State's season opener against Syracuse. After Ferguson fumbled on his first series, Hackenberg played the rest of the game and took control of the starting job.

Ferguson saw action in five games this season, going 10-of-15 for 155 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.
