Saint Francis stunned 88-86 by Bryant buzzer-beater

By Matt Maisel

LORETTO -- Jenniqua Bailey caught the inbounds pass at half-court with 4.7 seconds remaining. She turned left, saw open court, drove and tossed up a shot as the final buzzer sounded. It went in for a historic shot.

Bryant 88, Saint Francis 86. The Bulldogs first win at DeGol Arena in program history.

"Losing a game like that leaves a sick feeling for not just me, but all the players who worked so hard for 40 minutes," SFU head coach Joe Haigh said.

Saint Francis (4-11, 2-2) and Bryant (8-7, 3-1) traded the lead 10 times.

The Red Flash loss spoils one of the best games in the career of senior Alli Williams. The Bishop Guilfoyle grad posted 27 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, four assists, and two blocks, playing 34 of the 40 minutes, only to be topped by Bryant's Courtney Schissler. She led the Bulldogs with 36 points on 12-of-18 shooting and 8-of-11 from three-point range.

Saint Francis, which led the nation in scoring 108.5 points per conference game, was looking for their third straight 100-point effort.
