UPJ hosting NCAA Regionals over weekend

RICHLAND TWP. -- Pitt-Johnstown will host the NCAA Super Region I "East" Regional tournament this week, beginning Saturday at 11 a.m. at the school's Sports Center.

UPJ, which has won 20 regional titles dating back to the late 1980's, has not won a regional championship since 2007. That's not to say head coach Pat Pecora is slacking -- he says competition around the Mountain Cats has gotten better -- and UPJ still enters the tournament ranked No. 11 in Division II and tied for 2nd with Mercyhurst in the East Region.

Junior Travis McKillop enters the tournament as the defending champion at 184 pounds. He will most likely be the top seed at that weight. Gary Lantz should also be a top-seed at 165 pounds. Junior Zac Bennett (197 lbs.) and senior Dave Fogle (125) should also be ranked towards the top of their respective weights.
