They're one of the hottest As Seen On TV products on the market right now -- but do the Tater Mitts hold up to the test?

Our tester, MaryEllen, was among dozens of viewers who requested we try the mitts, which claim to peel potatoes in just eight seconds.

"I have a 2-year-old little girl and it is very hard to peel potatoes while my husband is at work. So, I thought if they work, it'd be really simple and fast and easy," she said.

After boiling the potatoes for five or six minutes, MaryEllen picked up the potato with the mitt and rubbed it vigorously under cold water.

"It says that it only takes off the thinnest layer of skin so you'll still have a lot of the nutrients and it promises to minimize kitchen waste," she said.

In seconds, MaryEllen had all three of her potatoes peeled, but cleaning the mitts was a little tricky.
