Whether you need to keep an eye on your kids, nanny or visitors, the Digital Private Eye from Swann Security claims to be easier than most do-it-yourself security devices.

This week's tester, Barry Boyer, and his wife recently moved to Somerset County from North Carolina. He said he has tried various security cameras in the past but couldn't find the right one.

He said the thing he doesn't like about most home security cameras is they require a lot of power and that they require him to run wire. However, the Digital Private Eye claims to be easy to install and is motion activated.

The steps were simple: pop in the memory card, plug the power cable to the camera and watch it go to work.

THUMBS UP -- TRY IT TUESDAY

Boyer set it up and walked around the room to see if it would pick up movement, and it did. The Digital Private Eye took a picture every three seconds when it detected motion and took 188 pictures in 10 minutes.

So, would Boyer use it to keep his new home safe?

"Seeing the quality of the pictures, I'm impressed," he said. "I'm quite pleased with it."

For that, he gave the Digital Private Eye received a thumbs-up.
