Christon, Liberty Easily Handle Mercury

Phoenix, AZ -- (Sports Network) - Shameka Christon scored 25 points, including 5- of-8 from three-point range, as the New York Liberty topped the Phoenix Mercury, 93-83, at US Airways Center.Janel McCarville added 21 points, six assists and six rebounds for the Liberty, who have won three of four overall and completed a two-game season sweep of Phoenix. Cathrine Kraayeveld finished with 14 points and nine boards, and the Liberty converted 12-of-25 from beyond the arc. Diana Taurasi had 25 points for the Mercury, who have lost two straight following a four-game win strak. Latoya Pringle came off the bench with 11 points, but Phoenix was just 3-of-18 from three-point range. The Liberty opened up a 31-20 gap after the opening period and never looked back, holding a 14 point edge heading into the final stanza.
